Ctrl.Alt.Shift Magazine



A couple of years ago Christian Aid produced a free youth led magazine called 'Ctrl.Alt.Shift'. The aim of the project was to give a voice to those interested in global  issues as research suggested that 85% of British young people wanted to understand and get involved with global development issues, but were not sure how to effect change. Here is what the editor wrote on her blog:

Our mantra? We are a global community of outspoken agitators seeking change. We stand in solidarity with the abused, violated and the ignored. We don't stop until the suffering ends. Take control of your world, alter the way it works, and shift the way the future looks. Be part of the equation. 

Each issue would deal with a different theme (corruption, gender, HIV etc) and used mock adverts to convey a message- eg, an advert for a child bride or skin lightening cream- with a big focus on impacting design, bold font and shocking images. It seems this magazine has stopped now but it was great, engaging teens in complex issues by making facts digestible and relevant.
